I designed this item to address the need of adding more shelves to my sons' IKEA Detolf cabinet to fit more Lego sets. The stock IKEA Detolf comes with 3 fixed shelves that divide the cabinet into 4 tall sections. These clips provide the necessary support to hold multiple shelves at different spacing requirements. The glass or plexiglass shelves have to be purchased separately in your local glass or DIY stores. One shipset comes with 12 clips, enough to install 3 shelves. DESIGNThe clips are designed to easily grab or snap into the existing 6mm diameter metal posts of the IKEA Detolf cabinet. Much like the Lego, the 'clutch' power of the clips is what supports the shelf and the display items. It takes a few seconds to install it and without the use of tools. MATERIALThe item is 3D printed using a plastic material called PETG, the same durable plastic used in drink containers. The item color is Light Grey. INSTALLATIONSimply snap the bottom of the clip on the metal rods first and when engaged, push the rest of the clip to grab the rod. Repeat this for the other 3 clips. Slide the 4 clips to the desired position. Place your glass on the clips and level with either a bullseye level or bubble level. As an option, you can install round felt or rubber on the base of the clips for traction and protection of your glass. LOAD BEARINGI have successfully tested 4 clips to support 12 lbs of weight. The clips can support up to 15lbs based on my tests but IKEA suggest to limit the weight to 13 lbs, so adding more weight would be at your own risk. You can also use hot glue to semi-permanently bind the clip to the rod.
